POEM A DAY 2020

the vow

I decided to make peace
with my emptiness,
but huge fact alert: guess what:
i am not empty.
A lot here.
Must now make peace with that.

So I took a vow of silence,
and felt my heart empty out
as I looked into the faces
of my friends
their eyes and
their good smiles
searching me
for understanding

and grew so empty
I nearly burst.
