I read recently

that mice in a maze

where there’s prize at the end,

after only two attempts

unsuccessfully winning,

will redirect their approach

completely, top to bottom

until they eat the snack of snacks!

HUMANS, now- when

given the same task

will over, and over, and over

test the same lame strategy,

deadlocked and repeating,  

until physically drained

emotionally tapped

wiped of all will

without reward.

This is the very definition

of insanity- by the way...

But—

I can tell you at this moment,

that with LASER-like precision,

I’ll be watching soooo closely,

these half broken branches

hanging from my healthy 

newly cultivated core.

Breathing through it,

recalling the rodent’s approach:

“thesis, antithesis, synthesis”

one, two, three...

and with a willingness

to go easy on myself.
