Standing rigid 

against the world

convicted and bound

by inner truths 

isn’t dissimilar

to clenching the fist

so tight, unrelaxed

recalcitrant 

Opened hearth

toward the sky

dissolving chaotic

thought layers 

is more akin to

opening the fingers 

palms outward

in askance 

And while a fist

seems a useful tool

in situations

expressing need

the open hand 

with relaxed fingers

seems to possess

more utility
