Cornered

Cornered

She was transformed
At the intersection
Boxed in
Cornered

That’s when the gloves came out
Long and elegant and silky
Stark against her skin red dress
Poised for distraction

They stopped
Mesmerized
She turned
Frozen they capitulated

The moral of the story is clear
As we edge closer to war
The harsh reality that it brings
Devastation beyond imagination

Let her through
Get out of the way
It is when she is cornered
She is the most dangerous

We stand at the intersection
Where we must decide
Who lives or dies
Who gets the bigger slice

Machines of indifference race past us
Relentlessly
Devoid of compassion
Or anything that resembles equality

As they pass her by
She tries her feminine calculation
They smash together like charged particles
Potential energy amongst the twisted forms

The gloves will come off
And the battle engaged
Like a wounded animal backed into an alley
Shattering.
