three cakes (chocolate)

brother, i am eating so much salt in bed.

today was everyone feeding me
chocolate cake, morning, noon,
and night, one with olive oil,
the next vegan topped
with powdered sugar
and laced in bits
of banana.

the final one was many layers
cream, and caramel, and graham
all sliced in neat little triangles,
compact and longing to be bitten.
and so i did, again and again
and again, for dinner
and nourishment all day
long i graciously ate
the cake i was given
and i am better for it.
